Jeanine Lim has been working with villagers in Vietnam for more than 20 years.
Starting as a personal endeavour with her mother, Project Give Pray Love has grown to become a community effort to help children in the Mekong Delta region stay in school through tuition grants, books, stationery and bicycles to get to school.
Now the filmmaker and lecturer is helping to introduce students to overseas community projects with a twist: by teaching them how to capture the villagers' stories through documentary filmmaking.
Starting with 14 students from Singapore universities in the pioneer batch, she took them on an intensive journey through the village of Vị Thanh.
The students had to navigate language barriers and an unfamiliar environment, learn new skills, find and capture a story in a short film, and all within nine days.
We follow the journey of one of the students as he wrestles with the challenge of being behind the camera but wanting to be in the thick of helping the villagers.
